Culture Initiatives, Corporate Social Responsibility or Sustainability Efforts
Our Workplace Culture initiatives include events that cultivate being our best selves while bringing the team together and supporting our community. Supporting one another though a weight-loss competition and in house gym program 26 Spartan's lost 614 pounds in 19 weeks. Honoring the daughter of one of our colleagues, we spent 2019 raising funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy. The year culminated in a charitable gala where we raised over $81,000 for MDA of Maryland.

At every step of the selection process, we put ourselves in the shoes of the people involved — from the architect to the designer, manufacturer to installer, building investor to end user. We start with the client — their priorities, goals and challenges — and end by evaluating our work based on their success.

Why you will appreciate our office space, layout and environment.
In 2016 we completed a comprehensive renovation of the old Aegis (Harford County Newspaper) building in downtown Bel Air. The open space and modern work environment were designed to embody our culture and help facilitate teamwork. The move to downtown helps the Spartan team engage with the community and support local businesses. It has also enabled more employees to walk or bike to work, as the new HQ is more centrally located.
Here is our commitment to wellness and fitness
Spartan's commitment to health and wellness runs deep, with a fitness center located just below the office, run by Bel Air local and well-known athlete trainer Bill Ackerman. Spartan Sports and Wellness is free to use for all Spartan employees, and nutrition guidance is also offered. In addition, we began 2019 with a company-wide fitness and health initiative, which resulted in nearly 30 Spartan employees losing a grand total of over 600 pounds.
How we handle flex-time and telecommuting
Being a sales organization, nearly half of our organization works remotely in their associated region.
Our process for career development or job advancement programs
Each department within Spartan conducts semi-annual employee reviews. We always strive to promote from within and encourage employees to speak up about interest in various departments and transfers within the organization. Our intern program has been very successful at building community and reinvigorating departments. A large percent of inters retain full time employment after graduation.

Employees are recognized on our website and social for all milestones - hire date, promotion, in house transfer. At the close of each year, employees vote for various awards including Ring of Honor, Distributor MVP, Team Member of the Year and Sales Person of the Year.
